EDUCATOR

Alan taught for over a decade at Kapolei High School in Hawai’i, serving 4+ years as the department head of Fine Arts as well as the department head of Career and Technical Education. With a passion for cross-curriculum collaboration, Alan seeks to help students achieve literacy connections in both music and academic classes fostering deep content understanding. At Kapolei, he taught grades 9-12 band, guitar, and choir, along with music theory and music appreciation. He led the program with satisfied students, parents, and colleagues gaining consistent division 1 ratings at regional competitions in both concert and marching ensembles. He was also the head of the Audio Visual Department working with maintenance of classroom technology as well as the sound engineer for all school wide events. As an active percussionist and educator, Alan has taught private lessons to students of all ages and served as a clinician at various events.
